My first year in education, I taught in Bradenton, FL in the 7th grade language arts department.  I moved back to the Cincinnati/NKY area in 2001 and took a job at Williamstown Jr./Sr. High School in Williamstown, KY.  In 2008, I was named “Teacher of the Year” and was given the honor of speaking at the Williamstown 5th grade graduation.  In 2009, I took a job at Nagel Middle School teaching history with some of the hardest working and caring people in the world.  I currently serve on the social committee and RtI committee, as well as a WEB coordinator and mentor to a new teacher on campus.  I absolutely love my job and the opportunities it brings me to grow professionally AND personally.  Middle school kids are AWESOME!

Since WEB has been implemented into our building, Nagel Middle School has seen reductions in several major categories of negative student behaviors. The following data compares the 2008-2009 school year to the 2009-2010 school year:

·      Student’s referrals have decreased 34% from 771 referrals in 2008-2009 to 509 in 2009-2010.

·      Suspensions dropped 47% from 34 in 2008-2009 to 18 in 2009-2010 and 70 % since 2007-2008 when there were 62 suspensions.

·      For students on an IEP, referrals dropped from 168 in 2008-2009 to 78 in 2009-2010 for a 54% reduction and suspensions dropped 46% with 6 suspensions in 2009-2010 compared to 11 in 2008-2009.
