Student Leadership

Link Crew is a student centered leadership and mentoring program. The guiding principle that sustains Link Crew is that there is an invaluable and untapped resource on your campus: students. This program engages, develops and trains older students on your campus to be leaders and mentors. Link Crew leadership is about more than events; it is about helping freshmen achieve success and it is that initial success that propels freshmen toward continued success throughout high school.

At the heart of the Link Crew program are your Link Crew Leaders. These are the juniors and seniors on your campus who volunteer to help the freshmen throughout the first year of their transition to high school. The driving force behind the Link Crew program is the belief that the older students on your campus are capable of incredible things. In addition to facilitating learning experiences and instructing freshmen in valuable lessons on how to be successful in high school, Link Crew Leaders step up and become a substantial presence on campus acting as models of positive behavior which is a catalyst for climate change on your campus. Link Crew Leaders act as lifelines for the freshmen and as tremendous supports for the adult coordinators in order to keep the program alive throughout the year.

Link Crew Leaders are a cross-section of the student body. The most effective Link Crew program has representatives from all social groups at the school, thus giving freshmen an older student with whom they can identify. Through identification with and connection to a Link Crew Leader, freshmen will start to see themselves as leaders on campus, too.
